Mr. Men series for kids to read- Book reviews by ZenParent

Mr. Happy, Mr. Tickle, Little Miss Sunshine, Little Miss Giggles, and their squad of geometric companions have explained feelings, sensations, and attitudes to generations of children. It all started when an eight-year-old boy wondered what a tickle looks like. His father, British advertising copywriter Roger Hargreaves, then drew a plump orange cartoon man with a big smile, tiny blue hat, and extremely long arms, who went on to become the first of 46 Mr. Men and 33 Little Miss books.

Bright and charming, with easily recognizable characters in a small take-along format, Mr. Men and Little Miss books, written for young readers, are easy enough for a quick read, witty enough to tickle their funny bones and rich enough to work wonders on their vocabulary, all at the same time. The bright colours, bold illustrations and simple funny stories make these books perennial children’s favourites!

What better time than the summer vacation to introduce your little readers to these multi-coloured and oddly shaped personae!

What’s more, the highly pleasurable read can follow up with fun activities and games.

“Which character do you think is the most huggable?”

“Little Miss ‘Who’ do you think describes you the best?”

A lot of interesting art and craft activities can be designed to aid creative development. You could draw and give them cut outs of parts of these characters. Children can assemble these to make their favourite Mr. Man/ Little Miss or invent their very own character and give them a name! And if your tot wants to see more of the crew in action, he could just make his very own t-shirt and flaunt his favourite character!
