Clueless is a 1995 comedy film, written and directed by Amy Heckerling. It is very loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma(1816).  It is an interesting trivia that the producers of this movie actually sat in a Beverly Hills High school classroom and observed it to get an actual feel of the classroom culture.

Story:

Cher and Dionne are two teenagers. They are shallow and only care about looking good and being popular. However they are not dumb. The movie is set in a High school and the storyline is largely about high school life of these girls. Cher goes about getting good grades by playing two teachers and negotiating her way into better grades. She and Dionne coach a shy frumpy kid into a gorgeous popular girl who also somehow acquires a nasty attitude in her transition from Ugly duckling to Swan which reveals something about the human spirit. The movie is an oxymoron. While the characters always talk about fluffy stuff and seemingly air-head material, they are intelligent and know their way around the real world. The dialogues are smart and funny and keep the audience engaged and laughing all the way making it one of the top teen movies of all time. The movie does have some strong language, scenes of alcohol consumption, drug usage and sexual innuendo.

ZenParent Says: The movie was so popular that it was spun off into a TV series and a book series too.Clueless is a fun movie that is a satire of life in Beverly Hills. It is a good chick flick to catch with your growing teenager.
