Charlotte's Web- Book reviews by ZenParent

Charlotte’s Web is one of the classic children’s books published in 1952. It was written by the American author- E.B.White.  Even though intended for children, it was a book that was popular among adults as well.

Premise:  The book is about the story of a pig called Wilbur and his friendship with a spider called Charlotte. How these two seemingly different creatures help each other out is the crux of the story. This is a heart warming story of friendship and love that appeals to all ages. The plot has many twists and turns, keeping the reader engaged and interested.  A tear jerker about the realities of life, told in a gentle, positive way; this book  introduces the difficult  concept of death to a child. It mainly draws children into reading it time and again because of the animals portrayed in the story.

Acclaim: The book has sold 45 million copies and translated into 23 languages. The book was adapted into an animated feature film in 1973. A video sequel was also produced in 2003. There is even a video game adaptation of the story that was made in 2006.

If you are looking for a simple but ageless Classic for your child, this book is a great summer read.
