  1. Clean the mushrooms well and slice it
  2. soak rice in water for 30 mins. After 30 mins, drain the rice and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan.Add the fennel,chopped onion and saute until translucent
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste,green chillies and saute well
  5. Add tomatoes and stir until tomato softens
  6. Add turmeric powder,coriander powder,pepper powder,garam masala powder,salt and stir well
  7. Add the lentils and mix well
  8. Now add the washed and sliced mushrooms and stir well for some time like 5-8 minutes on medium flame(mushrooms leave water when cooked so adjust the water accordingly
  9. Add the rice , water and give it a stir
  10. Add coriander leaves  and toasted nuts and raisins
  11. Close the lid and cook the rice on simmer until done. The rice can stick,so check in between and give it a stir.check the seasoning and salt.If the rice is not cooked well and the water dried can add some more water and cook until the rice  and lentils come to a creamy consistency like khichdi.

The mushrooms ,dal and rice with all the spices blended makes it an authentic and tasty meal.
