Follow our preparing for baby checklist so that you don’t miss out on anything.

Baby preparation checklist

You will need a preparation for baby checklist so that you can be assured that you have remembered everything and are not taken by surprise.

  • Preparation in the house
  • You need not necessarily make a separate room for the baby but make room for the baby’s things in the cupboard.
  • Clean the house and all around it to reduce infections and mosquitoes, cockroaches and other insects.
  • Empty the fridge and kitchen of old and excess items. Post the baby you will not have enough time to do this.
  1. Things you need to take care of around the house
  • Book your month’s gas cylinder now to have back up.
  • Service your air conditioners, water filters, etc.
  • Pay all your bills in advance and do not leave it to the last moment.
  • Pay the premium for all your insurance due at that time.
  • Discuss and arrange for help at hand during the time the baby will come home. You will have too much on your hands to do it all then.
  • If you have an elder child, ensure you involve the little one in preparing for the new arrival. Any major changes like toilet-training, separate bed, etc. should also be done much before the new baby is born.
  • If you have a pet, arrange for help to take care of the little pet for the time that you will be away.
  • Pack your hospital bag before you reach 37 weeks as you could go into labour anytime soon.
  • Most important, don’t overtire yourself. Take a lot of rest before the baby finally arrives.

These are a few recommendations from us to be kept in mind in preparation for delivery and childbirth.
