Pregnant During Summer: How to Stay Cool?

It couldn’t have been any worse – you’re pregnant, it is hot, humid and you are growing larger; all in all it is extremely uncomfortable. Not exactly, there are ways to deal with the heat now and keep cool while you stay fit.

Here is how!

  • Drink up

The basic step to staying fit is to have water, lots and lots of it even more so when pregnant. Summers can be dehydrating so drink up more than usual. Now drinking so much water is not easy, so add a slice of lemon maybe or fix yourself a fruity mock tail; makes drinking all that water so much easier.

  • Swim

The pool could be your best friend now! Swimming will not only help you stay fit by giving you an all body workout but also helps to cool yourself. The added benefit the buoyancy will ease the stress on your various muscles and joints, relaxing them and hey it will feel great to have that weight off your feet for some time.

  • Time it right

Exercise during the cooler times of the day, either early in the morning or late in the evening. This will prevent your body from overheating with all the added workouts.

  • Dress right

When working out you are going to be sweating more so opt for lightweight fabrics like cotton, linen, etc. which are breathable. These fabrics allow the sweat to evaporate quickly and will make working out a more pleasant experience.

Always make you’re well hydrated and in your comfortable best, no matter what. Keep all these things in mind, and you’re good to go!
