Returning to your own home after delivery

Planning your return to your own home

If you have planned to move to your parent’s place for your delivery you might be spending a slightly relaxed time right now. You need not be worrying about the changes you need to be making around your own house for the arrival of the little one just yet. But return to your own home you must, so there is a lot of thought you need to put into the return to your place.

  • Discuss with your partner when you would want to make the move back. You might want to wait for 2-3months to help you get settled with the baby.
  • You are going to be having a lot of help at your mom’s place – your mom and maids maybe which will not be there once you come back, unless you plan. Look for additional help who will be there when you settle back at your place with the baby. You might consider having your mom or the maid from there with you initially when you move back.
  • Even though you’re coming back home with the baby is quite some time off – invest time now to clear out spaces and declutter the house now. Once the baby arrives you will have no time for this.
  • Your staying at your parent’s place would mean your husband is still not habituated to the baby being around. You might want to discuss with him, his spending some time over at your parent’s to get accustomed and hands on. If it is not something which can be worked out remember to have a lot of patience with him once you are back because believe it or not you already are turning pro with the baby while he is just starting out!
