Baby proofing your home: when is the right time?

Child proofing

35 Weeks : Now might be a good time to baby proof your home

Although you are still a few weeks away from delivering your little one, and still have a few months till your little one becomes mobile, it doesn’t hurt to start baby proofing your home.

Childproofing the house: Why should I start now?

  • Childproofing your home is not a single step process. It will take time and will be thorough given some time. Finish off this task now that you both have time at your hand. Once the baby is born, you will be completely occupied with the baby and your husband will be left alone to handle this task.
  • You can get accustomed to the baby proofing, so that by the time, it actually is useful, it will become second nature to you.

How to baby proof your home?

  • Ensure that all appliances are serviced properly and out of reach of the child.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher at hand – but away from the reach of children.
  • Plan a pest control before your due date. Move out of the house if you plan to fumigate the house.

  • Keep non-slip rugs and carpets around the house.
  • Make a practice of keeping filled buckets and drums away from the reach of children.
