Taking care of your pet during your delivery

If you have a pet, then before you go away for your delivery – your mother’s house or directly to the hospital – make sure you provide care for the pet, especially if you have been doing everything single-handedly so far. Try these tips:

Tips for taking care of your pet:

  • Plan out who will feed and walk the pet in your absence.
  • If friends or family offers, accept their help.
  • Consider pet-sitting centres or daycares. These centers are not cheap so look around for the best deals.
  • Ensure that your pet’s immunisations are complete.
  • If you are planning on hiring a caretaker, then hire a caretaker much before your due date approaches, so that they can get to know one another.
  • Explain all the duties to the caretaker so that there is no confusion later that might affect your pet’s health.

Also remember to spend some time with your pet and try to make the pet feel secure in the knowledge that you’re going to come back. Animals have a way of sensing their owners’ distress and help tremendously anyway.
