Dealing with fussy, anxious parents

There are all types of people and as many types of parents in the world. As you become a parent, you start socializing with different types of parents. If you are an easy going parent, then you might find it a big challenge to deal with parents who are fussy about their children, always comparing notes with you and getting disappointed if their kids are not “up to the mark”.

You can try these tips to communicate with such parents:

  • Be calm when they start interrogating you about your children’s habit.
  • Chances are that they will comment on your parenting skills. Don’t let it get to you. You know what you are doing and why you are doing it.
  • They may also get disappointed if they find that their kid is lagging on some milestones. Comfort them and let them know that it is okay and all children are different.
  • Divert their attention and show them how good their kid is at something your kid is struggling at.
  • Encourage them to take it easy on their lifestyle because it might be their anxiety that may holding back their kid from achieving certain milestones.
