Tips on cleaning the fridge and kitchen

Cleaning out your fridge and kitchen before going to labour

Cleaning up the kitchen and fridge before you go away for delivery Whether you are a first time mom or a second time mom, you are going to have to empty the kitchen and the fridge so that your relative, or your cook, can manage it seamlessly when you are away for delivery.

If you are a first time mom, chances are that you are moving to your mother’s place for at least 3-4 months. In such a case, while you pack for your delivery, you must take a look at the fridge and do the following:

Tips on cleaning the fridge:

  • Throw away stale food, or give it away if it is not very spoilt.
  • Run an inspection on the unnecessary items in the fridge and check their expiry date. If they have gone past it, just throw them away.
  • Check your freezer and refill your ice trays.
  • Audit the chiller and the vegetable drawer and throw away any rotten vegetables.
  • Refill all the water bottles.
  • Get all the shelves and the freezer cleaned

Tips on cleaning the kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and therefore you want to make it as easy to use to yourself and to someone else in your absence.

  • Take stock of your groceries and restock them if need be.
  • If you are not planning to use the glassware, better store it someplace safe to avoid unnecessary usage and breakage.
  • Audit all your kitchen utensils and kitchenware. If there are some utensils that you’d rather someone else not use, store it somewhere else for later use.
  • Keep only the utensils that will always be used.

These are the basic steps that need to be taken. Everyone has a different style of managing their kitchens. The end result is to have an uncluttered kitchen that is a joy to use.
