A healthy diet during pregnancy means including a lot of nutrients like proteins, fibre, vitamins, minerals, etc. It also means you should be having some cholesterol in your diet too.

Having cholesterol included in the diet has numerous benefits to the baby and you

  • Essential fatty acids (EFA) like DHA are very important for your baby;s brain development. A good intake of EFA means a good birth weight for newborns. Your EFA intake is directly related to what your baby will get when developing
  • The fat intake influences the quality of the breast milk
  • Fats enable nutrient absorption in the body. Many vitamins are fat-soluble and hence fat is needed to absorb them. Hormone performance too is dependent on the fat intake of the mother.
