27 Weeks Pregnant – Your Pregnancy Guide

Your Baby This Week – Week 27

Your baby this week - Week 27

Size of the baby: 36.83cm

Weight of the baby: 907gm

Your ‘cauliflower-sized’ baby’s brain is on an overdrive now with brain cells developing rapidly. She is sleeping and staying awake, opening and closing her eyes and maybe even sucking her thumb now. She is still curled up in the foetal position.

Involuntary movements in her diaphragm may cause her to have hiccups now. But as her trachea is filled with fluid you won’t hear any sound but will definitely feel it. This will make the baby jump and you may able to see the motions in your tummy.

Her taste buds are developing now so there is a chance that eating spicy food may cause her to hiccup.

If she were to be born premature now, her chances of survival would be pretty good. Her lungs will be able to function with a lot of medical assistance now.

You might want to learn more about breastfeeding or discuss with mother who do now if you are considering breastfeeding your child. This will help you get a better understanding of breastfeeding.

27 Weeks Pregnant - Your Body This Week

27 Weeks Pregnant – Your Body

In the 27th week of pregnancy, you are at the end of the second trimester almost and a new set of pregnancy symptoms may begin to show up now.

You might experience an increase in your appetite now as the body requires additional energy.

The continuous stretching of the belly is causing the belly to become dry and itch a lot. Use a lot of moisturiser for some relief.

You may be experiencing some swelling during pregnancy, which is termed as Edema. Edema may begin or worsen right now as the body builds up more fluids.

Your legs may begin to tingle or be jittery now, especially when you lie down. The Restless Leg Syndrome could be because of iron-deficiency anaemia or sensitivity to certain food. It is best to consult a doctor if the issue persists.

You might also experience side effects like haemorrhoids, gas and leaky breasts now.

These are just a part of the pregnancy and should soon be sorted once the baby is born and growing. Watch your Vegetarian pregnancy diet, try to make healthy choices and don’t give up on your pregnancy exercises!
