Size of the baby: 27.94cm

Weight of the baby: 454gm (almost)

 Your ‘cucumber-sized’ baby has begun the 5th month of her existence in your womb. Her fingernails are fully grown almost and her organs are becoming further more functional and specialized.

Her lips, eyebrows and eyelids are becoming more distinct. His eyes too have formed but the iris (coloured part of the eye) still does not have pigmentation and thus colour.

Her baby teeth have begun to form below her gum line.

Her see-through skin is gradually becoming opaque. It has to fill out with fat still to lose its red, wrinkly look. The lanugo (fine hair that covers his body) too will remain till he adds that padding of fat.

She is also perfecting her sense of touch. She would be gripping her face or maybe even the umbilical cord.

Her hair should begin to start growing now but she might also enter the world totally bald.

Your hands and feet are swelling now, so any rings you might be wearing must be getting quite snug. Now might be a good time to remove them, when it is still possible to easily.

Now that you are in the 22nd week of pregnancy, you are probably mostly in maternity wear! Your tummy is attracting a lot of attention right now, after all it is nice and round and cute! But that does not give anyone the right to rub it if you are not comfortable with it. If you are someone who enjoys it, bask in the glory; and if not, do not hesitate to tell them so.

You might see a visible increase in your vaginal discharge now accompanied with a not so nice odour. You might also experience redness and itching in the area. Keep yourself clean and dry at all times to control this odour.

You may suddenly find that it is not just your tummy expanding now your feet too seem to be on a growth spurt. This is because the ligaments are getting loose and making the feet spread. Your shoes must be getting too tight for comfort so it might be a good time to buy yourself comfortable shoes.

You might be feeling dizzier as your blood pressure has dipped. Avoid quick and sudden movements and keep drinking lots of water.

Constipation during pregnancy is common and drinking water will help with your constipation too. Keep exercising during pregnancy at this time to further aid the bowel movements.
