3. Bend it like Beckham: This is a British comedy about a young Punjabi girl living in London who loves to play football. Beckham is her hero. Her parents are not happy with her passion. She gets chosen to play for her league and how she convinces her parents is the story.

4. Back to the future: This is a sci-fi classic comical that is a must-see for all kids. It is about time travel in a time machine. It is rated as one of the best movies and features in a number of lists as a must not miss the movie.

5. 10 things I hate about you: This movie from 1999 is a modernized version of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. It is a romantic comedy that was a blockbuster hit back then.

6. Juno: This movie is an Oscar winner from 2007 for the best comedy-drama film. It is about the unplanned pregnancy of a strong-minded teenager and the repercussions of it.

7. Bring it on: This is a 2000 teen comedy film. Even though it is about the clichéd topic of cheerleading that has been done in many movies, it still was the largest grosser at the time and considered a cult classic.

8. Hunger games: This movie is based on the novel by the same name which has broken all records in book sales. The movie is about a post-apocalyptic world and a reality TV kind of scenario where 24 Teenagers are pitted against each other in a deadly battle. Only one of them can survive. The book is very true to the movie and a huge hit as well.

9. The Harry Potter series: This fantastic book series that took the world by storm has been made into movies. The British drama series is a must-see if your child is already smitten by the Harry Potter bug.

10. The Blindside: This is a sports movie based on the life of the football player Michael Oher. Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for her role in this movie and it is considered an inspirational film with good values.

The devil wears Prada: This is a terrific movie for teens about a young girl (played by Anne Hathaway) who lands her first job at a fashion house and has to work for a demanding boss played by Meryl Streep. Both the actors give stellar performances in this fun movie that is such a delight to watch as Anne Hathaway stands up for herself.

15. The fault in our stars: This is a movie based on the novel by the same name written by John Greene. It is a serious movie about a 16-year-old cancer patient who falls in love. A poignant story about the harsh realities of life and the inexorable pull of love.

20. 12 Angry Men: This 1957 movie is shared in so many graduate psychology classes to showcase the vagaries of the human mind. What seemed like a slam dunk conviction by a jury slowly unravels. A fascinating story of justice. An intelligent plot and an amazing portrayal of characters, you cannot go wrong with this ageless classic.
