THIS is the real reason why Bollywood parents don’t want their children to follow in their footsteps!

When you are successful and famous it is natural for parents to want their children to follow in their footsteps. But these 6 celebrity parents want the opposite of that! They are going all out to ensure that their children are well qualified and from prestigious institutions too!

1. Aishwarya Rai

The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai is a yummy mommy today, looking stunning in her diva-sque gowns at Cannes. But as a young girl she studied at Arya Vidya Mandir High School in Mumbai. She was a bright student who often topped academics and was known for her extracurricular activities too. For example Aishwarya is a trained dancer.

But by the time she was in her 12th standard a talent hunter had already spotted her. By 1994, she was Miss India and went on to win the Miss World competitions.

Even after the zenith her career was at, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan tried to graduate in architecture from Jai Hind and Raheja College but left it midway because of her modelling commitments.

Today her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan is kept far away from the limelight and the star parents are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that she gets the best education there is!

3. Kareena Kapoor

Mom to the beautiful and bountiful Taimur Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor is blue blood of Bollywood. She attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai before going on to Welham Girls Boarding School in Dehradun. After her stint with the boarding school, she studied commerce for two years at Mithibai College in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Along with that Kareena Kapoor then registered for a three-month summer course in microcomputers at Harvard University in the United States. Kareena Kapoor Khan also dreamed of becoming a lawyer, and even studied it for a year but then came Refugee and she dropped college like a hot potato.

Today she is married into a royal family. Saif Ali Khan is an exceptionally well read man who has already expressed his unhappiness about his daughter Sara joining the film industry.

Kareena and Saif want Taimur to be well educated first before he heads for the arc lights.

3. Aamir Khan

Father to 3, Aamir Khan has an aura around him that gives him an air of academia. In any conversation he has an upper hand because of the kind of literature he has read. He is known as an actor who pours himself into the script and fights to change things he feels sure will not work. Had Aamir applied himself to his books as much, he may have gone beyond12th standard!

4. Kajol Devgn

Poised to make another return with a big banner, Kajol was born to a filmy family. Her mother Tanuja was already a star as was her grandmother. Kajol was still in school at St. Josephs convent at Panchgani when she was offered her first film. She had barely passed her 12th and when at the tender age of seventeen she made her debut with Bekhudi in 1992.

Yet, now as a mother of two- Nysa and Yug, Kajol is a strict disciplinarian. She takes up their lessons and makes sure that they are both doing extremely well in school and achieve academic brilliance.

5. Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar never liked reading much. What an irony than that he married author/writer Twinkle! Even in her book Twinkle Khanna makes constant fun of the fact that Akshay isn’t exactly cerebral.

This khiladi Kumar attended the Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Mumbai. But never got around to studying or even finishing his graduation. That’s because the now successful actor was more inclined towards sports and martial arts. He left college for Bangkok where he studied martial arts and even trained as a cook to make some money.

Today he is dad to Aarav and Nitara and both mommy Twinkle and khiladi Kumar are making sure they are concentrating on their lessons more than what’s happening in the movies!

6. Karisma Kapoor

Karishma Kapoor also debuted at a tender age. She was barely 16 when she appeared in Prem Qaidi as a love stricken girl. In that movie she was fair and dumpy and had eyebrows that were thick enough for her to be called “cater-pillar browed.”

What many don’t know is that Karishma Kapoor was just 16 then! She had barely finished her schooling from Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai where she was until grade six. Her formal education was incomplete and everything she now knows was learnt on the job- while working in films!

Yet, today she has metamorphosed into a svelte and gorgeous diva! As mom to Kiaan and Samaira, she is making sure that they have a super grounding in education before they even begin to think of taking up films
