The inherent difference between a reactive parent and a responsive parent

Based on the article by Nicole Schwartz  from, this infographic attempts to detail the implicit differences between a responsive and reactive parent. It's easy enough to mistake one for the other because, stripped down, you're essentially performing the same actions as both. What changes is the packaging: how are you communicating what you want to say to your kids? Are you impulsive, snapping and yelling at them when they make a mistake? Or do you take five deep breaths when they annoy you, calm down and then speak to them firmly? Take a step back and examine what kind of parent you are. That's what this picture is for.
