So your hormones got raising and you completely lost it on the bed last night? Well, as much as you might have a great time, we also know what you are worried about. Sex does not always happen during ‘safe’ periods. Sometimes, things go out of our control and we don’t really care to wait for the ‘right’ time. And at the same time, you definitely don’t want to get pregnant. 

Well, while contraceptives are readily available in the market, a few home remedies will work like magic as well. Here are a few things from your own kitchen that can save you from that unwanted pregnancy!

1. Birth control pills

The first and the foremost remedy for unsafe sex is birth control pills. Easily available across the counter, these pills need to be taken within a particular time frame (within 48 hours after intercourse) for it to work. If you are someone who has intercourse regularly, then make sure you consult your doctor before you take one, so that you keep side effects at bay.

2. Consider other factors

It’s not just unsafe sex that can cause delayed periods. After all, its not that easy for a sperm and an egg to fuse! So, consider other factors too. Stress and tension can also be a reason for delayed periods.

3. Hot and spicy food

Hot and spicy food increases heat in your body, thereby leading to your cycles immediately. So go on and binge on some mouth-burning foods, after you have played it unsafe.

4. Ripe papaya

Once you are sure that you have had sex during the unsafe period, grab a bowl of ripe papaya. Surprised? Don’t be! Apart from keeping your skin healthy, papaya also adds gallons of heat to your body, thereby helping in getting periods early.  The nutritious elements present in papaya helps to form and secrete oestrogen hormone at a rapid pace. This can further lead to faster periods and avoid pregnancy.

5. Pineapple

Pineapple is known to have some enzymes which induces periods immediately. Make a juice or simply include it in your salad. However, you need to have it in excess for it to do the deed. This is one of the safe and effective ways to stop unwanted pregnancies.

6. Pomegranate

Pomegranate is a rich source of iron and a number of other active ingredients that can help in rebalancing the natural vitamin and mineral levels in the body, promoting quick periods. You can also mix pomegranate juice with jaggery and take it 3-4 times a day to get periods quickly.

7. Sesame seeds

Ask your mom and she is bound to suggest this one! Soak 2 spoons of sesame seeds in 1 cup of warm water. Let it soak for 10 minutes and then drink it warm. You should take this drink at least twice a day for best results. This remedy can induce period within 10 to 15 days when taken regularly. 

8. Jaggery

Drop that unsafe pregnancy in a ‘sweet’ way! Yes. Jaggery helps to metabolise and normalise hormones. Take it with sesame seeds before breakfast on an empty stomach as a juice or prepare a healthy concoction of jaggery and ginger juice to remove the toxics away and invite menstruation soon.

9. Ginger and parsley

Parsley adds a lot of fibre and nutrition to a woman’s body. Mix a juice out of ginger and parsley and drink it 2-3 times a day to ensure early periods and avoid pregnancy. The goodness of antioxidants helps in expanding the uterus and invites the menstruation early this way. You can prepare this delightful drink and feast on it until your periods arrive.

10. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an excellent remedy for missed periods. All you have to do is choose some fruits that are rich in Vitamin C. Since vitamin C is a wonderful component that can produce estrogen in the body in your uterine lining, there will be contraction and effectiveness in getting menstrual bleeding.
