Dear ladies, this is why you are gain weight post marriage! (It’s not sex or semen)

Gaining weight after marriage? Well, you are not alone. More than 50% of Indian women see a sudden spike in their weight after marriage. And this is in fact, considered a healthy sign in most homes. However, if you are wondering why you no longer fit into your pre-wedding clothes, we have the answer! Read on and find out.

1.     No, it’s not sex!

Most women are under the assumption that regular sex causes their hips and breasts to grow bigger. Plus, the hormones are always there to take the blame. However, turns out that none of these are true. Sex has nothing to do with weight gain post marriage and there is no study that proves it either.

2.     Semen is not adding to your calories

And if you thought it’s the semen that is leading to all the weight gain, then its time you got your facts right. While there is no physiological reason why your breasts or hips should expand after you have sex, there is also no way that ejaculated semen is adding on to your kilos. And, in any case, 2-3 ml of semen (average ejaculation) contains only about 15 calories!

3.     You went on a weight loss spree before wedding!

This is something that all of us have done, isn’t it? Pre-wedding means weight loss and getting back in shape for all women and that could in fact be one of the reasons why you are gaining weight rapidly. Before the D-day, you are on a roll. Gym and exercise are part of your daily routine. But, what happens after you tie the knot? It all goes out of the window, letting you happily pile on those kilos.

4.     You binge post marriage

There is no way newly married couples can escape the Indian tradition, can they? The bride and groom get invited by all the close relatives for grandiose meals after they are wed.  And the result? Your weighing scale becomes your worst enemy.

5.     Happiness and sense of security

Well, believe it or not, your mom and grandma were not wrong when they said you have gained weight because of all the happiness. According to an article published in 2013 called ‘Health Psychology’, couples who feel secure, loved and happy are more likely to gain weight in their marriage.
