If you marry before 20

A woman should not have a baby till she is at least 20 years old. As per World Health Organization, Complications during pregnancy and childbirth are the second cause of death for 15-19-year-old girls globally. In fact, if a first-time mother is less than 20 years, her baby has a very high risk of dying. Also, career-wise, it may be too early to have an added member to the family as during these years, most people are struggling even to sustain themselves. Legally, men are not allowed to marry before 20, so their health-status is out of question. Emotionally and psychologically too, having a child before 20 years of age is too early because parenting needs a more mature care.

If you marry between 20 and 25 years

You can have a baby as soon as you are married. This is an ideal time frame to conceive. Quality of the mother’s eggs is very good in these years. Also, the man’s sperms are very freshly matured and are perfect for conceiving. However, if one looks at the emotional and financial burden of pregnancy, the later one goes for pregnancy in this time frame, the better they are equipped to handle it.

If you marry between 25 and 30 years

You must have a baby as soon as you are married and shouldn’t delay it much. Many, many couples think that this is the best age to have a baby. In fact, most millennial couples choose this time frame, if not early 30s, to have a baby. However, health-wise, the level of a woman’s fertility drops and the chances of her getting pregnant drop by a fourth within a year. For the sperm quality of the man, it majorly depends on his lifestyle. If he is regular drinker, smokes and has any health issues, his sperm quality can bear the brunt of time. So, ideally, one should conceive as soon as possible if they marry within this time frame. 

If you marry between 30 and 35 years

You must have a baby as soon as you are married and should NOT delay it at all as the chances of pregnancy drop significantly for the woman. However, make sure that you and your partner are physically fit and fine to be parents. If you father at this age, your sperms are highly likely to be not fit and abnormal. Because of this, your baby can have increased risk of multiple diseases, such as autism, say studies.

If you marry between 35 and 40 years

You must have a baby immediately but only after you get yourself and your partner screened and see if you are healthy enough to have a healthy baby. You must make a well-informed decision. By this age, the chances of your kid developing problems like down syndrome and autism increase. Also, the woman may have a miscarriage as its chances get very high.

If you marry between 40 and 45 years

The problems increase manifolds for the mother and the child. The child’s chances of developing chromosomal defects get as high as 1 in every 19 women. It gets very difficult for women to have a baby through normal delivery. The abnormal sperms make the child very likely to develop autism and ADHD.

If you marry after 45

If you married after 45 and are thinking of having your own child, you must think again! First of all, the chances of having a healthy baby from her own egg for a woman drop to 1 per cent! Pregnancy related issues such as gestational diabetes and hypertension increase many, many times for the woman. Also, because the sperms get weak and abnormal even more, the child’s risk of ADHD shoots up by 13 times! It also gets at risk of breast cancer (if it’s a girl) and dwarfism, besides autism.
