Action Pack Your Diaper Bag

There are quite a few things we carry in the diaper bag but most often than not, we may not end up using more than 50 per cent of them. But let this not demotivate you from loading your bag with things that do not fall in the must-have category.

I was out with my little one recently and I was not carrying a diaper bag and had just carried two diapers! BIG MISTAKE! I should have carried a diaper bag loaded with the must-haves for a diaper bag which are a life saver for unforeseen incidents – like the one I had. Read on to know more…

1. Baby Wipes

Imagine not having baby wipes when you are traveling and your little one experimenting with his sipper and spilling her milk happily all over him while you are sitting in the passenger seat and feeling happy that your little one is quiet and obediently having his feed. This is what happened during my trip but luckily there were enough tissues to superficially clean the car seat and her dress. Though, back of my mind I was grumbling to myself for not carrying wipes. Had I carried them, the cleaning would have happened in a jiffy without leaving a stink in the car and on her clothes.

2. Sanitizer

Post I had cleaned my little one with tissues, I wanted to feed her from the snack box I was carrying considering we were almost 30 minutes away from home and I did not want her to remain hungry for so long. But the cleaning had left my hand soiled. Had I carried a sanitizer, it would have helped me some bit.

3. Baby cream / baby powder

The stink was okay for me to bear but imagine my little one breathing it in! The soft fragrance of the baby cream could have been a life savior.

4. Bib / burp cloths

Bibs are important! Don’t run the risk of thinking that your child is well disciplined not to spill food while eating. Even if it is just about her having a cookie, make her wear a bib. She may just throw up or remove the chewed cookie from her mouth. Don’t take a chance.

5. A small water bottle

Besides her water bottle, carry a small spare one. This can be used for cleaning, incase of emergency.

6. Re-sealable plastic bags

This is a life saver when you have to just dump things, specially the wipes!

7. Changing mat

Only if I had a changing mat with me, I could have kept it on her soiled car seat instead of making her sit on the dirty seat.

10. A toy

Carrying a toy is not an option but a necessity. Kids need to be engaged or they get grumpy and irritable. Do not expect yourself to be patient to keep her entertained, especially when the journey is anything longer than 20 minutes. Yu really do not want to scold your child for being herself! She needs to be engaged and entertained.

Apart from the above, make sure you have her diapers, a change of clothes which also includes socks, a cap, anti-rash cream and her snack box as part of the diaper bag as well. With all these things well stocked in the bag, you are ready to undertake any journey – be it big or small!
