Like them or hate them, but you definitely cannot ignore them! And just like us, our Bollywood stars are also extremely conscious when it comes to staying shape. However, there is a lot of difference in what we do and what they do in order to maintain their hour glass figure.

While we sweat it out at the gym or go on a diet, our stars tend to go a little further and take it to extremes that are plain crazy!

1. Tummy tucks and liposuctions

Many actors and actresses have been rumoured to have undergone tummy tucks and liposuction surgeries to get rid of excess flab. In fact rumour mills were abuzz that A-listers like Farah Khan, Surveen Chawla, Aamir Khan, Sridevi and even Malaika Arora underwent either a tummy tuck or a liposuction to stay slim and trim. However, the actors chose to keep mum about the same. The results with these procedures are phenomenal, but the risks associated are scary too. From infections to anaesthesia risks, swelling and cardiac arrests, liposuction and tummy tucks come with a bag of risks.

2. Starvation diet

Yes, there is a thing like that! While you might have heard of the size-zero diet, the starvation diet is known less but results in drastic weight loss. The diet involved eating in a 5:2 ratio, where you eat normally for 5 days and then ‘fast’ for two days. On the fasting days, you eat about a quarter of your typical calorie intake. This means 500 calories for women and about 600 for men. According to reports, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda followed the starvation diet to lose about 18kgs in 28 days for his film Sarabjit. However, he was supervised by his doctor!

3. Popcorn and orange juice

Wondering how this helped the celebs lose weight? Pop corn was part of Kareena’s size zero phase. Corn contains high amount of fibre, which thereby curbs hunger pangs. However, one needs to watch out that it also blocks the absorption of Vitamin B in the body, which might in turn lead to skin issues, memory loss and low energy levels. So, before you opt for the popcorn diet, do consult your dietician.

4. The detox retreat

You might have heard of celebs going on a vacation, but this one’s slightly different. Many Bollywood stars including Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra opted for a detox retreat at the Viva Mayr Clinic, in Austria. This place apparently has the strictest diet ever. From stale bread to rooted veggies like sweet potato and beetroot their diet is plain ‘torture’ but with excellent results. Not just that, the place is Wifi disabled and also dinner time ends at 7:00 PM. The diet also gives you diarrhea in order to get rid of toxic waste from your body.

Apart from this, there is a spa which offers treatments like facials, body peels, manicure, pedicure and much more. And the icing is that it costs a couple of ‘lakhs’ for a ten-day stay!
