Home made Cough Syrup

Effective home remedy for cough: Easy Tips by ZenParent

A child coughing in the middle of the night is something all parents dread. Coughs and colds tend to makes the child fussy and messes with their sleep as well. Cough syrups aren’t recommended for use in children under 2 years. Even amongst older children, commercial cough syrups have their limitations and shouldn’t be given too often.

Here is an all-natural home-made cough syrup that is totally safe to give your child as often as required.

  1. Mix 8 tablespoons(tbsp) of honey with 3 tbsp of sterilised warm water
  2. To this add 1.5 tbsp of ground pepper and 1.5 tbsp of ginger juice ( grate fresh ginger and squeeze out the juice- do not add water).
  3. Blend well for 2 minutes until the mixture is even .
  4. Store in a cool place.

Note: It is recommended that children under 1 year of age are not given Honey for risk of botulism.
