Summer time means extra time at the swimming pool. However, the chlorine and chemicals in the pool can really wreak havoc on your skin. Follow these 5 tips to keep your skin protected as you cool off in the water!

  1. Showering before a swim will saturate your skin and reduce chlorine absorption.
  2. Apply a layer of coconut oil on your skin to protect it before the swim.
  3. Wear a cap or lightly oil your hair before entering the pool.
  4. Post swim, shower with lukewarm or cold water. Hot water will open your pores causing more chlorine to be absorbed into the skin.
  5. Always moisturize post swim since chlorine has a drying effect on skin.
